America is the Melting Pot of the world. It has grown because of
the creativity and vision of many groups - notably Jews. The focus
of this work is to spotlight a few of those dedicated Jews who were
instrumental to the development of the American.

first lady Pioneer, Josephine Sarah Marcus Earp -the
wife of the renowned Wyatt Earp - was an actress in a time
when theater was enjoyed only by the wealthy. Josephine
brought the stage to the prairies, giving all her audiences a
place to dream and hide in thought -just for a brief moment.

LEVI STRAUSS 1829-1902 |
| Levi Strauss, the second Pioneer
Jew to join this elite group, was the entrepreneur for the
masses. He devised a style that, to this day, bears his name. |

The third distinguished Pioneer
Jew, Florence Kahn, became a unique figure in a most unlikely
place - the House of Representatives. This female activist
performed bravely in the male super-club called Congress. |

HARBURG 1896-1981 Lyricist |
| The man who put the RAINBOW in
the WIZARD OF OZ. Considered to be the greatest lyric writer
of them all, Yip Harburg resides in our memories and hearts.
Harburg's lyrics offer hope, compassion and humor to people
around the globe.
Among his accomplishments are: the score of The Wizard of
Oz, the score of Finian's Rainbow, April In Paris, Brother Can
You Spare A Dime?, It's Only A Paper Moon and many many more.
He wrote songs for such legendary performers as Judy
Garland, Lena Horne, Groucho Marx and Frank Sinatra.
