Florence 'Pancho' Barnes

The world of aviation was treated to a truly unique
character during the 1920's and beyond. "Pancho"
Barnes ' resume reads like a fictional tale:
- Founder of the Pancho Barnes Mystery Circus of the
Air
- 1st woman to fly the Interior of Mexico
- Participant in the 1st Powder Puff Derby
- Renowned Hollywood Stunt Pilot and incentive for
the Associated Motion Picture Pilots Association
- Beat Amelia Earhart's Speed Record
Barnes ended her flying in the mid 1930's to settle
down to a life of ranching and proprietorship of a
fly-in dude ranch.
Her ranch, named "THE HAPPY BOTTOM RIDING CLUB"
hosted an array of celebrities - military and
Hollywood alike. Known to a wide variety of people,
