Mr. Henderson, As a friend of Danny Dietz, resident of Colorado, and member of the NAVSPECWAR community, I appreciate your uncompromising position on his memorial. As you said, you cant satisfy everybody, and thank GOD you are not bowing to the will of a couple of anti-gun kooks. For Ms. Cuesta to link this memorial to Columbine, in any way, is an insult to the Dietz family, the Naval Special Warfare community and every other fallen hero in our countries history.

Mr. Ambrose's book on D-Day is an insult to Canadians and Britons. It is a fact that Canadians made the furthest advances during D-Day, accomplished more objectives than any other Allied units & the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion that were the first Allied troops to land in Fortress Europe secured more objectives than any other paratroops that jumped in advance of the landings. Canadians made an equal contribution to winning both World Wars compared to our British and American comrades.

Excellent site! Too bad I didn't discover this before my Dad died.

My father was Marius J. 'Pete' Pedersen, flew ATC in USA 1944-1945 and the Hump 02/45 - 10/45, based at Sookerating, Assam, India. He was nicknamed 'Florescent Pete' because he flew so much at night. He completed 172 trips across the Hump in C-46's. He died in Rimbey, Alberta, Canada in June 2000 aged 83 years, and is survived by his wife Eunice and 3 sons. He was a member of the Hump Pilots Association.

M.J. Pedersen's rank/serial no. was: Flight Officer, U.S. Army Air Corp. T192086.

Three Wings: Pete was probably somewhat unique in that he was awarded three (3) wings: Canadian RCAF (1941), American USAAC (1944), and Chinese Air Force (1986). Even though he was an American citizen born in Nebraska (family immigrated to Alberta, Canada in 1931), he trained and flew for the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941 - 1944 and his rank/serial no. was: Warrant Officer Second Class R.C.A.F. R103667. The RCAF wings are a decoration so he wore both sets of wings when he flew for the US.

His memorabilia is on display at the Legion Museum in Rimbey, Alberta.

His family is proud to add his name to the C-46 memorial.

The family would appreciate word from anybody who knew him during his military career. Thank You.
