The Difference Between Politics and Auto-Racing

In a couple of words – NOT MUCH!
Let’s run the list:
Politics:
We get to listen to the candidates and then get to listen to commentators who tell us what the candidates just said (ad nauseum).
Racing:
We get to watch the races and then get to listen to the commentators tell us what we just saw (ad nauseum).
Politics:
We hear the rantings of a Reverend Wright and are told to see that as a reflection upon a candidate.
Racing:
We get to hear the rantings of the Most Reverend Tony George and are told “he” reflects the view of the drivers/owners/fans.
Politics:
We have ONE (count ‘em) woman allowed into the mens club.
Racing:
We have one, two, maybe a handful of women allowed to join the boys.
Politics:
One African-American.
Racing:
One African American (drag racer).
OH, and Lewis (F1)
The only difference seems to be one group gets to wear helmets to protect themselves from the others. WOW! Maybe the ‘other’ group might benefit from helmets, as well!! Hmmm….
