The War To End All Wars
Unfortunately, World War II was not the last war we have engaged in. It looks like we will be in armed conflict for years to come – but that’s another story.
But, during this past week, a relic of WWII died – Paul Tibbets. Tibbets was the pilot of the Enola Gay, the bomber that released the atomic bomb on Japan.
As our guest at the B29 Memorial dedication at the United States Air Force Academy’s Honor Court, Tibbets spoke about that historic event. The speech answered many questions. He spoke about the colors, smells and emotional reactions of himself as well as his crew. To hear history recalled by those who lived it was, by far, one of the most noteworthy of our experiences while doing the work of recording this history.
If only this war truly was the last…
