A Bit TOO Far?
September 22nd, 2008Okay, drug testing for those actually participating in the sport is reasonable. But, THE OFFICIALS???
Can we next expect the FANS to be tested? Get real, will ‘ya?

Well, what else can go wrong? The cycling world, the Olympics, the kid next door AND NOW, NASCAR!
Those exemplary young men, those god-loving whippersnappers.
Can it be? The NASCAR dads who affix prayers to their bumpers. EVEN THEM?????
Not only do those feisty young men use testosterone but maybe they even use the stuff they’re advertising. We got rid of cigarette ads. Will we have to resort to getting rid of CIALIS, too???
While we, as a people, seek to be ‘politically correct’ and oh so open-minded, we remain closed and fearful. The events of the past year give rise to the age-old question, “Does race matter?”
It’s playing out, again. The same old bigotry remains but it is clothed in a new false indignation and saccharin smiles. But, rest assured, it is still a strong ally to the Bible-thumpers and gun-totin’ blue-blooded white men and women.
Don’t be fooled by those screaming ‘foul’ or those waving the flag – be it the red white and blue or the checkered one! It’s all the same…
Just because your name is DANICA, MILKA or SARAH does not mean we (women) blatantly credit you with being a viable racecar driver. Yes, you mirror us physically BUT you must meet a standard, pay-your-dues, show your worth…
Whatever you achieve on the race track must meet the same ‘bar’ that all people who put on a helmet and get strapped into a racecar, rise to. We (women, again) will value your achievement ONCE YOU ACTUALLY ACHIEVE!!
Most women are smart enough to see an accomplished person as deserving our respect. You don’t get credit for just SHOWING UP!
Take that, John McCain and what’s-her-name!!
This week, the first African-American will be chosen by a major political party for the President of the UNITED States. It is our chance to show the world that we are looking for major change!
The status-quo has been destructive to our pocketbooks and our spirits. We may be wounded but we can heal. Enough of the divisiveness and fear. Enough of war and destruction.
We are poised to resume our optimistic outlook and quest for peace. The time is now
to be UNITED for the good of all and not just the few…
Namaste
The world is full of game-players, truth-stretchers, political pundits! When it comes to racing, no one is saying what must be said – OUT LOUD- so that the sport doesn’t become benign. No one, that is, except Robin Miller!!
Being cautious to the point of obscurity does no one any good! Robin Miller minces no words and speaks the reality of the sport – the games, the lies, the bull**** that gets tiresome and may cause racing to disappear from our Sunday schedule.
Carry on Robin. You may be saving the sport of racing…
